The Great Alaskan Accounting People will host a seminar about Alaska Native corporations at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in the Murie Building auditorium. A social hour with light refreshments will start at 5 p.m.

Four panelists will speak and then take questions.

GAAP is a University of Alaska Fairbanks student club. This is GAAP's fourth annual seminar, which features distinguished speakers from a variety of backgrounds involving Alaska Native corporations.

This year’s speakers include:

  • Jim Hasle, Anchorage assurance office managing partner with BDO, a national accounting and consulting firm.

  • Garry Hutchison, partner with Kohler, Schmitt and Hutchison, a Fairbanks accounting firm.

  • Lia Patton, an assurance office partner with BDO's Anchorage office.

  • Miranda Wright, treasurer for the board of directors of Doyon Limited, the Fairbanks-based regional Native corporation.

Julie Stricker, a Fairbanks journalist who has written extensively about Alaska Native corporations, will serve as master of ceremonies for the seminar.
