Alaska mapper and UAF alumna Mary Albanese will give a free public talk Thursday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Murie Building auditorium on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus.

Albanese came to Alaska to be a teacher, but ended up a geologist. She spent 10 years mapping in the Alaska wilds at a time when much of the state was still unmapped.

Albanese will tell her story, as chronicled in her book "Midnight Sun, Arctic Moon," and will hold a book signing after the talk.

The event is hosted by the UAF Geophysical Institute.
