The Arctic Institute of North America will hold it's 18th Arctic roundtable, "Agents of Change in the Alaskan Arctic," on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. in the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center's theater in downtown Fairbanks.

The roundtable will begin with a panel of experts discussing the tremendous changes experienced in the Arctic, from the pre-1900 arrival of Yankee whalers through today's decline in the extent of sea ice.

Panelists will be Richard Glenn, executive vice president for lands and natural resources at the Arctic Slope Regional Corp.; John Kelley, former director of the Naval Arctic Research Laboratory in Barrow;  Andrew Mahoney, research assistant professor in the snow, ice and permafrost group at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute; and Carl Benson, professor emeritus at the Geophysical Institute. Mary Ehrlander, director of Arctic and northern studies at UAF, will moderate the panel.  A discussion among the panel members will follow.
