Santana is BLaST scientist of the month

Vanessa Santana, an undergraduate student who grew up in Brazil, is the UAF Biomedical Learning and Student Training program's scientist of the month for August.

Santana has worked with several research projects, including one that looks at alterations in neuronal pathways induced by caffeine in a mouse model.

The National Institutes of Health funds the BLaST program to promote biomedical research careers among diverse students, especially those from rural Alaska.
