The UAF Office of Sustainability will host several events in April to celebrate Earth Day.

April 13–22: Sustainability Art Show in Wood Center
Waste can be a creative source for art and manufacturing. The annual Sustainability Art Show highlights alternative uses for materials that would otherwise end up in the landfill. Awards will be given in multiple categories at 5 p.m. April 17. Display your innovation, imagination, and ability to recycle and reuse! Drop off items at the Wood Center on April 13-14.

April 20-23, 5:30-7:30 p.m.: Real Food Film Festival in The Pub
The food revolution focuses on cooking as the moment of choice between stimulus (production) and response (consumption). This is the perfect point to educate about food, farming and healthy living. The Sustainable Campus Action Force has organized a Real Food Film Festival for 4 nights at The Pub. Each night we will show a nationally produced movie and a locally produced short film by Sarah Betcher for the Sustainable Futures North project.

April 22, noon-2 p.m.: Sustainability barbecue, booth fair and open house
Join the Office of Sustainability for food and fun on Earth Day! Have lunch and meet representatives of student and community organizations that promote sustainability. We will have three recycling round-ups as well. Interior Alaska Green Star will collect cell phones, and the Office of Sustainability will collecting old but still usable shoes. There will also be a plastic bag trade-in; bring your plastic grocery sacks and trade them in for a reusable bag!

April 22, 3-4 p.m.: Green Carpet Awards
The Green Carpet Awards recognize UAF students, staff and faculty who have shown dedication to promoting sustainability on campus. All nominations for the Green Carpet Awards are due April 18. The submission form is at www.uaf.edu/sustainability/.
