Compaction to begin on power plant project

Contractors on the University of Alaska Fairbanks combined heat and power plant project
will begin compacting the soil at the construction site this week.
Vibro-compaction will run from 4 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday for about
six weeks. While the work is not expected to produce noticeable shaking, some people
in the surrounding area may notice vibrations as a result of the methods used to compact
the soil.
