Elephants, best friends and interesting jobs

November 25, 2014

Tanya Clayton

The environmental impact of elephants in South Africa and the nature of friendship between dogs and people will be discussed Monday, Dec. 1, by Dr. Christine Hardy, who oversees admissions and student services for the Colorado State University veterinary program.

Hardy's talk will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Murie Building auditorium.

Hardy, a veterinarian and a leader at CSU's Flint Animal Cancer Center, will also talk about how to use a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in ways beyond private practice. CSU and UAF collaborate to offer the degree.

Hardy has a well-developed sense of adventure, prefers to think and work outside the box and believes Alaska is an open frontier for work related to the One Health initiative, an effort to link human and veterinary medicine.
