The University of Alaska Fairbanks will welcome nearly 250 prospective students and their parents to the fall Inside Out preview day on campus Friday, Oct. 11.

Registration is more than triple last year’s fall numbers and is a record for the thrice-yearly event, aimed at high school juniors and seniors and their parents. Organizers chalk that up, in part, to the fact that, for the first time, UAF is waiving application fees for attendees and offering on-site admission at the event.

“We have found that a large percentage of students who attend Inside Out apply and subsequently attend UAF,” said UAF recruitment director Mary Kreta. “This year, students who apply can leave with their admission letters at the end of the day.”

In addition to a full slate of activities designed to introduce students and parents to campus life and academic offerings, admitted students will meet with an admissions counselor to get a jump start on their college careers.

UAF will host another Inside Out preview day March 14. Prospective students who can't attend Inside Out events can also schedule individual campus tours.
