Rod Boyce

Please join family and colleagues in honoring former UAF administrator and retired Brig. Gen. Rosanne "Ro" Bailey at a memorial at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, in the Elvey Building Globe Room on the Fairbanks campus.

Ro passed away on Nov. 2 in Anchorage.

An excellent role model for women throughout her career, Ro came to UAF in 2006 as the vice chancellor for administrative services. She became special projects manager for unmanned aircraft and rocket launch support at the Poker Flat Research Range in 2008.

In 2012, University of Alaska Board of Regents recognized the unmanned aircraft program's  excellence and consolidated it into the Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration. In her most recent position as deputy director of ACUASI, Ro left her mark on the unmanned aircraft industry in Alaska and the nation. She was instrumental in writing the proposal that created the Pan-Pacific UAS Test Range Complex, one of only seven FAA unmanned aircraft system test sites in the country. She led the center during the difficult early years.
