The University of Alaska Museum of the North is offering hands-on programs during the month of March to explore art.

At “Family Day: Art” on Saturday, March 14, from noon to 4 p.m., visitors can discover art at the museum and participate in a group art project. There is no admission fee for children 14 and under at all Family Days, thanks to support from Saltchuk.

Other programs are included with museum admission. Early Explorers, for children 5 and under, meets each Friday from 10 a.m.-noon. Parents and children can explore arts, crafts and conversation with provided activities.

Junior Curators, for children 6 and up, is offered two Saturdays each month from 2-4 p.m. Discover animals, plants, culture and art through hands-on investigations and crafts. The theme for Saturday, March 7, is exploring symmetry. On Saturday, March 21, children can explore Alaska’s rock art.
