Nanook hockey hosts 'Women's Hockey 101'

The Alaska Nanooks will host the third annual Women's Hockey 101 Symposium Friday, Oct. 2 from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. at the Carlson Center. This year's event is teaming up with the Breast Cancer Detection Center during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Participants will have dinner with the hockey team, receive a long-sleeved "Hockey 101" T-shirt and a ticket to the Nanooks' Saturday night game. The cost is $50. Several breakout sessions on and off the ice are designed to help educate female fans about the game of hockey. Topics will range from rules and terminology explanations, various on-ice skill demonstrations, a question and answer session with the players and coaches, a tour of the team locker room, as well as an assortment of door prizes. The Breast Cancer Detection Center will have information available at this event.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, the Nanooks will take on Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Game time is 7:05 p.m. at the Carlson Center.
