Fairbanks, Alaska - The No. 20 Alaska Nanooks travel to Oxford, Ohio this weekend (Feb. 1-2), when they will take on the No. 3/4 Miami RedHawks for a Central Collegiate Hockey Association series.

Friday night the teams face off at 3:35 p.m. AKT (7:35 p.m. EST) and on Saturday at 3:05 p.m AKT (7:05 p.m EST). Both games will be broadcast live on KFXF Fox7 in Fairbanks.

Here at the need to know notes about the Miami series and Alaska Hockey:

  • • Alaska trails Miami 15-38-5 all-time, which includes a 7-22-2 record in games played in Oxford. Friday night the Nanooks will look to continue their current six-game winning streak, while snapping a six-game losing streak to the RedHawks.

  • • The Nanooks are 2-9-1-0 against the RedHawks under head coach Dallas Ferguson, with their last win being a 3-2 victory in Oxford on Nov. 13, 2010. When the team met in Fairbanks on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Miami swept the Nanooks at the Carlson Center 5-2 and 4-0.

  • • Alaska has never posted back-to-back road victories against the RedHawks and the program's only series sweep against Miami was on Nov. 6-7, 1998, when the Nanooks prevailed 3-2 and 5-2.

  • • Four of Alaska's last five trips to Oxford have resulted in series splits, including all four of the regular season meetings. Alaska was swept by Miami in the second round of the CCHA playoffs Mar. 11-12, 2011 (4-1, 4-1).

  • • Last Saturday night, Alaska won its sixth straight CCHA game to complete the third consecutive conference series sweep for the first time in program history.

  • • Friday's win marked the end of a 16-game winless skid against the Wildcats for Alaska and their first since a 4-1 decision on Nov. 30, 2007. It was also the first victory over NMU under head coach Dallas Ferguson and the weekend sweep was the Nanooks first against NMU since 2004 and just their second all-time.

  • • With a 2-1 victory over NMU on Friday night, Alaska head coach Dallas Ferguson broke the program's coaching milestone for league wins with 51, surpassing the previous record of 50 set by Guy Gadowsky (1999-2004).

  • • The weekend series sweep at home was Alaska's first since Jan. 28-29, 2011, when they shutout Ohio State 1-0 and then beat them 6-2 at the Carlson Center.

  • • Friday's win gave the Nanooks nine CCHA wins, one more than their entire season total from the previous year, while Saturday's tied the overall win total from the entire 2011-12 season.

  • • Junior forward Colton Beck is this week's CCHA Postgame Offensive Player of the Week. He scored the short-handed game-winning goal and was the Perani Cup second star in a 2-1 win over NMU on Friday. He went on to score twice, including the game winner, and was the Perani Cup first star in a 4-2 victory on Saturday to complete the series sweep of the Wildcats.  An assistant captain this year for Alaska, Beck ranks sixth on the team offensively with seven goals and five assists good for 12 points in 24 games. In his career as a Nanook he has amassed 24-29--53 in 98 outings, fifth best among all Nanooks and second best in his class.
