Continuing our countdown to the top moment from the past year, we now take a look at our No. 6 moment of 2012-13. One week following a runner-up finish to Northern Michigan at the Central Collegiate Ski Association Championship, the Alaska women's skiers downed NMU to win the NCAA Central Region team title in Houghton, Mich.

Alyson McPhetres and Theresia Schnurr set the tone for the Nanooks on day one of the region championship by taking first and second places in the five-kilometer classic race. The squad led the Wildcats by three points heading into the second and final day.

McPhetres once again bested the field on day two by claiming the individual title in the 10-kilometer freestyle technique mass start, while Crystal Pitney and Rebecca Konieczny both finished in the top six as the Nanooks completed both races with 129 total points, to Northern's 124.

McPhetres tallied 48 points on the weekend to win the overall individual championship for the women. Following the region races, both McPhetres and Pitney were selected to the 2013 NCAA Championship in Vermont.

Tomorrow, we'll reveal our No. 5 moment of the 2012-13 season – STAY TUNED!
