Pesticide applicator training scheduled in Anchorage

Continuing training will be offered to certified pesticide applicators during one-day workshop March 15 at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

The annual Certified Pesticide Applicator Workshop will run from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Gorsuch Commons. Participants receive eight continuing education units toward their recertification. The state requires certification for anyone who acts as a pesticide consultant or engages in the commercial or contract use of a pesticide.

Presentations by industry and agency professionals will cover tree care in urban landscapes, turf disease, bed bugs, tools for tree care and pest control, alternative pesticides, rodents and other pests.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will host the event with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. The registration fee of $55 includes lunch.
