Student volunteers needed for governor's meeting

Alaska Gov. Bill Walker’s office is seeking up to six student volunteers who could serve as guides for “Building a Sustainable Future: Conversations with Alaskans," a fiscal policy discussion to be held at the University of Alaska Fairbanks on June 5-7.

Volunteers are needed to:


  • guide guests from the Wood Center registration desk to various dorms on campus.

  • help participants find their classrooms for breakout sessions on Saturday morning.

  • assist staff and facilitators with minor issues, such as making copies of handouts.

  • help members of the public who will attend.


The volunteers would be able to observe presentations and discussions. Students with an interest in political science, history, economics, etc. are encouraged to volunteer.  A meal will be provided for volunteers on Saturday.

The specific hours and numbers of volunteers needed are:

  • Friday, 4–8 p.m. (5)

  • Saturday, 7:30–10 a.m.  (3)
    11:30 a.m.–4 p.m.  (3)

  • Sunday, 8:15 a.m.–4 p.m. (3)
