UAF police respond to suicide near Cutler Apartments

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Police Department on Saturday evening responded to reports of a suicide near Cutler Apartments on campus.

Starting at about 6:05 p.m., police started receiving reports of one or more gunshots behind the Cutler Apartments. When officers arrived, they found a man who had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man, Jason Bourne, 26, was a biology and wildlife major in the College of Natural Science and Mathematics. He did not live in campus housing. His next-of-kin have been notified.

A counselor from the UAF Health and Counseling Center responded to the Cutler Apartments to meet with several residents.
