The Alaska volleyball program kicks off the 2013 season Saturday with a pair of events at the Patty Center. At 4 p.m., the Nanooks will take on the Alumni in a three-set exhibition match, which will be immediately followed by the second annual Spike Fest at 6 p.m.

Admission to the match is free of charge and Spike Fest is complimentary for active Spike Club members or $12 for adults and $8 for youth ages 12 and under. Dinner for the event will be a Roma Italian buffet. Click here if you would like to purchase or renew your Spike Club membership the upcoming year.

The match will feature this year's Alaska volleyball team, which is made up of nine returners, seven newcomers, first year head coach Mallory Larranaga and first year assistant Jamie Foland, against a solid group of Alumni, coached by former Nanook Ruth Pomeroy.

For fans unable to make the match Saturday, there are two options to stay in the loop with Alaska Volleyball as  live stats  and  live video  will be provided.

Following the exhibition, the team will participate in a series of skills challenges: fastest serve, hardest attack and accuracy attacking. A brief Volleyball 101 with on-court Q&A will follow which will lead into Spike Fest. Dinner will begin at 6:15 and door prizes will begin to be announced during. At 6:45 p.m., fans at the event will get to meet each member of the 2013 squad with individual introductions and interviews.

The grand prize for the event will be one round-trip flight to Anchorage that can be used to fly south to watch the Nanooks take on rival Alaska Anchorage this season. Name the Nanooks will also take place where fans can select the newcomers' names for their individual posters.

Fans will also have an opportunity for pictures and autographs at the end of the event.
