I was surprised and disappointed recently to see that the cozy, comfy couches had been removed from the upper floor of the Wood Center, in the corner where vendors of sushi, coffee, pizza and smoothies once operated. They seem to have been replaced with high tables and barstools, and were not moved downstairs. Why were they removed?
It’s true, some of that furniture was comfortable, but it was falling apart or broken in so many places and beyond repair that it had to be removed. If you looked close, there was exposed wood on quite a few of them. It wasn’t meant for the type of commercial use it experienced and as a result took a very heavy beating.
