December 2, 2014

The Women’s Center invites the UAF community to learn more about the center and celebrate the end of a successful fall term during a holiday cookie open house from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec 18.

The center will share treats and invites everyone to bring their favorites. Visitors can drop in at any time. Staff and volunteers will answer questions and listen to suggestions.

Women’s Center supporters have donated door prizes, including a cashmere sweater and Pashmina scarves. For details, see the center's blog, uafwomen.blogspot.com, starting Dec. 15.

Each person who signs the open house guest book will get a drawing ticket. Cookies, tea or another holiday treat will earn a second ticket. Every donation of five nonperishable food items will earn another ticket. Donations go to the Wood Center Food Pantry. The drawing will be at 6 p.m., and winners not present will be contacted.

The Women's Center offers a refuge, a launching pad and a node for connections at UAF. This spring semester, the center will offer "Docs with the WoC," a biweekly series of documentary films. The films, which will be previewed at the open house, show efforts to create a more equitable world.
