Akasofu awarded the Hannes Alfvén Medal

Syun-Ichi Akasofu, UAF professor of physics and director, emeritus, was awarded the
Hannes Alfvén Medal in early April at the European Geophysical Union, Vienna, Austria.
The Hannes Alfvén Medal was awarded for his outstanding achievements in Solar-Terrestrial
Physics, establishing the sub-storm as a fundamental concept of magnetospheric physics.
