Alaska residents planning a communications career can apply for a college scholarship from the Alaska Professional Communicators, the Alaska chapter of the National Federation of Press Women.

Information on the $1,000 scholarship is available at www.akprocom.org or from coordinator Connie Huff at 907-550-8464.

Eligible students must be enrolled at a four-year college. Applications must be submitted by April 4.

Candidates are selected on the basis of promise in their chosen field, need and scholastic achievement, in that order.

Established in 1981, the scholarship is presented in memory of chapter members who have died. Their spirit lives on in the scholarship winners.
