A second round of auditions for parts in a short independent film, “Bodies of Water,” will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 4-8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Complex.

The UAF Theatre and Film Department will produce the film this fall from a screenplay written by UAF alumna Adrina Knutson. Assistant Professor Maya Salganek will direct.

“Bodies of Water” explores loss, grief, guilt and the confrontation of fear. The story follows Leona, a young woman who fails to prevent the drowning death of her sister, Willow. After running away from home, Leona is haunted by her developing fear of water. She becomes involved with a vaudevillian performance troupe, through which she confronts her darkest fears.

Knutson wrote the screenplay during her final semester at UAF. She was tragically killed in a car accident in Tanzania while working on a film project in 2012. Faculty, students, alumni and Adrina’s family are collaborating to produce the film in her memory.

Actors interested in auditioning should register online for a time or sign up at the department offices in the Fine Arts Complex. Additional information about the film can be found on the auditions website or by calling 907-474-6590.

Callbacks for auditions will take place on Sept. 1 from 6-9 p.m. in the Fine Arts Complex.
