Help University of Alaska Fairbanks faculty member Carie Green celebrate both her new book about children's environmental identity and the many people who have made the work possible.

Green will hold a book signing from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, on the fourth (ground) floor of the Rasmuson Library.

Green is an associate professor with the School of Education. Her book, "Children’s Environmental Identity Development: Negotiating Inner and Outer Tensions in Natural World Socialization," was published in October by Peter Lang.

The book proposes a theoretical framework for considering how children’s identity in, with and for nature evolves through formative experiences. While the book will be of interest to academics and students, its accessible language, vignettes and figures will make it useful to teachers, policymakers, parents and others interested in children’s relationships with other humans and the natural world.

The event is free to the public. Refreshments will be served, and children are welcome to attend. Books, priced at $40.95, will be available for purchase.
