College of Liberal Arts to host open house, scholarship event

The University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Liberal Arts will host its annual open
house and scholarship give-away event, We Are CLA, from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16,
in the Wood Center ballroom.
High school students and their parents will find information on CLA’s 40-plus degrees
and be able to meet faculty members. Current UAF students can schedule advising appointments,
declare their majors and gather information about student activities.
The event will include demonstrations from the college's 20 departments, such as a
mock crime scene investigation, a chance to hold human brains and specimens, and investigative
journalism activities. UAF representatives will also be available to discuss financial
aid, student exchange programs, leadership opportunities and more.
At least five students will receive $500 scholarship awards provided by CLA alumni
and donors. Students must be present to win.
Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
