Decision Theater North, UAF's new high-tech visualization space, will display the winners of the Visualize This! design competition at a First Friday event from 4-7 p.m. May 5. The winning entries from the UA-wide competition include a variety of videos, still photos, infographics and more. Light snacks will be provided.

First Friday visitors also will be able to explore the Decision Theater development space, where they can try out 3-D painting using virtual reality headsets. Also open for the event will be the Volcanic Ash Detection, Avoidance and Preparedness for Transportation computer lab. V-ADAPT is a UAF-based startup that tracks volcanic activity. Visitors can also peruse new satellite images from the Alaska Satellite Facility, on display a floor above the Decision Theater.

Visualize This! is sponsored by three research development programs that operate on the Fairbanks campus — the Alaska National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research, the National Institutes of Health's Institutional Development Award Network of Biomedical Research Excellence and the NIH's Biological Learning and Student Training.

Decision Theater North is located in 010 West Ridge Research Building. The list of winning entries is available on the Alaska EPSCoR website.
