'Denali's Howl' author to discuss climbing tragedy

Author and journalist Andy Hall will discuss the tragic 1967 climbing expedition chronicled
in his recent book, "Denali's Howl," during a presentation Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in
the Murie Building auditorium.Of the 12 young men on the 1967 expedition, only five survived.
Hall, son of the park superintendent at the time, spent years tracking down survivors, lost documents and recordings of radio communications. In "Denali’s Howl," Hall reveals the full story. At an elevation of nearly 20,000 feet, the men endured an “arctic super blizzard,” with winds of up to 300 miles per hour and wind chill that can freeze flesh solid in minutes.
