Dipnetters and anglers can look to the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service for help preserving the catch.

Extension has online canning lessons, DVDs and free publications about canning, freezing, smoking and pickling fish at www.uaf.edu/ces.  Agents also offer how-to classes and answer questions by phone and email.

Extension offices will test pressure canner gauges for free to ensure they are adjusted correctly to preserve fish safely. For more information, contact district Extension agents or call the toll-free number at 877-520-5211.
