Food system analyst to lead workshop on cooperatives

Food system analyst Ken Meter will present a free workshop March 14 on cooperatives and their role in developing a sustainable food system for Alaska communities.

The workshop will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cooperative Extension Office at 1675 C St., Suite 100 in Anchorage and at videoconference sites in Palmer, Kenai, Homer and Sitka. Additional videoconference locations may be requested.

Meter is the president of Crossroads Resource Center in Minneapolis, a nonprofit organization that works with communities to support sustainability. Meter has served as an advisor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is a contributing editor for the Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems and Community Development.

The UA Center for Economic Development Cooperative Development Program and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will host the event.
