The IARC Salon features science topics at the foundation of the UAF and IARC research community: atmosphere, oceans, terrestrial processes and integrated system studies.

This year's first session will feature researchers John Walsh, IARC chief scientist and president's professor of global change; Bert Boyer, director of the Center for Alaska Native Health Research; and Michael Brubaker, director of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium.

Their discussion will address climate projections for Alaska in the context of health/lifestyle in the communities, direct and indirect impacts of climate on health in Alaska communities, and health and climate change as seen through the lens of ANTHC and the Local Environmental Observer Network. The researchers will review challenges, outlooks and interdisciplinary research opportunities to address existing and anticipated challenges.

The session will run from noon to 1:15 p.m. in Akasofu 401. Coffee and tea will be served. Attendees are encouraged to bring a quiet lunch.
