More responsive institutions could better serve a rapidly changing Arctic, an affiliate faculty member with UAF's International Arctic Research Center will suggest at a seminar Tuesday, Nov. 22.

Kaja Brix, a fisheries researcher with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Juneau, will present "The Emerging Arctic and the Role of Institutions: A Mismatch Between Scientific Discovery and Policymaking?"

The seminar will run from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in 401 Akasofu Building on the Fairbanks campus' West Ridge.

Brix will examine the current model of institutional interaction and suggest a dynamic adaptive model — one arguably more responsive to the biogeophysical and socio-cultural environment our institutions are designed to serve.
