University Relations

Ice Box, UAF's undergraduate literary journal, is open for submissions for its 2021 issue. Students are welcome to submit fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, hybrid work and visual art. All accepted work will appear in Ice Box, Vol. #17, which will be published in April 2021. Our editors prepared this call-for-submissions video.

  • How to submit: Email your creative work as an attachment to uaficebox@gmail.com. Please save your work as a .docx or .pdf file. Do not include your name within the file; editors will review all submissions anonymously.

  • Guidelines: Students may submit fiction, nonfiction and hybrid work up to 6,000 words. For poetry and flash work, submit 1-3 pieces saved as a single file. For visual art — illustrations, literary comics, photography, etc. — submit up to three images saved in an accessible file format.

  • Deadline to submit: Friday, Dec. 11, 2020.

  • Eligibility: Any student enrolled in a UAF undergraduate course for the 2020-2021 academic year can submit work.

  • Review process: Next spring, students in ENGL 482: Topics in Language and Literature, "Practicum in Literary Publishing," will review submissions and prepare Ice Box for publication.
