Now in its 55th year of broadcasting, KUAC is hosting a nine-day fundraiser, which began Oct. 14 and will conclude Oct. 22. Many UAF faculty, staff and students volunteer during the event. The kickoff at 7 a.m. on Oct. 14 featured Nate Bauer, director of and acquisitions editor at the University of Alaska Press, and Sarah Stanley, director of the University Writing Program, on air in the FM studio for two hours. Donors have been calling in throughout the fall fundraiser, helping KUAC meet its goals.

Callers leave comments, which are read on air. A sample of the thousands of comments KUAC receives: "Yay Robert Hannon and Dan Bross for doing a  great job on the local news," from Nora Gruner. "I'm donating to preserve civilized, thoughtful discussion of current issues," from Danielle Wiley. "We value the in-depth coverage of stories from the local level to the world and the even perspective with voices from many different points of view," from Phil and Laura Hokenson. "We depend upon KUAC for excellent news programming and the opportunity to listen to classical music," from Margaret Thomas.

On-campus UAF staff may call 5822, visit https://kuac.org or visit the KUAC studios in Suite 202 of the Fine Arts Complex to help sustain KUAC. Call 474-1890 for more information.
