OIT building will be moved to Taku parking lot

Alumni Drive will be closed temporarily Friday evening, Aug. 29, as a contractor with Facilities Services moves the Office of Information Technology cable building currently located by the power plant to a new location in the Taku parking lot. The move will begin at 8 p.m. and will finish at 9 p.m.

The route for moving the building is as follows: From the power plant entrance on Alumni Drive to University Avenue, north on Farmers Loop, west on Taku Drive and up Taku to the last entry into the parking lot.

On Thompson Drive, a flagger will be on site to direct traffic. A flashing reader board will be at the roundabout at the intersection with Tanana Loop to warn drivers that Alumni Drive is temporarily closed.

On Alumni Drive, a flagger will be on site to direct traffic away from the junction with Tanana Loop and South Chandalar Drive.

At University Avenue, a police car will block westbound traffic on Alumni Drive. A flagger will also be on site.

The time and temperature sign on Alumni Drive will announce the temporary road closure.

Signs will be placed in the University Avenue and Farmers Loop medians warning of the temporary road closure.

On Yukon Drive and Tanana Loop, a flagger will be on site to divert traffic down Tanana Loop or Yukon Drive.

Tom Pascoe will be on site to call the UAF Police Department when the building is ready to move.
