The University of Alaska Fairbanks will present a free lecture by National Public Radio personality Shankar Vedantam at 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at Hering Auditorium.

Vedantam is an NPR science correspondent, host of the “Hidden Brain” podcast and author of a 2010 book of the same name. His work focuses on unconscious prejudice and its effects on everything from how people fall in love to how nations go to war.

The event is free, but tickets are required to attend. Books signed by Vedantam will also be available to purchase. Registration is online at https://uaf-shankar-vedantam.eventbrite.com.

Vedantam’s centennial lecture is one of many events being held this year to celebrate UAF’s first century. For more information, go online to www.uaf.edu/centennial/events.
