NPR’s Neal Conan to discuss ‘Life in Public Radio’

Veteran newsman Neal Conan, host of National Public Radio’s “Talk of the Nation,” will share thoughts about his life in public radio during a free lecture Monday, Aug. 2 at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
“Play by Play: A Listener’s Life in Public Radio,” will begin at 7 p.m. in Davis Concert Hall.
During a radio career spanning more than 30 years, Conan has held posts as editor, producer and executive director of NPR’s “All Things Considered,” bureau chief in NPR’s New York and London offices and a defense correspondent. He has covered several wars and anchored live coverage of national political conventions, Supreme Court confirmation hearings and a presidential impeachment. He also spent a season as a play-by-play announcer for a minor league baseball team and tours nationally with Ensemble Galilei in the productions “A Universe of Dreams” and “First Person: Stories from the Edge of the World.” He has been host of NPR’s “Talk of the Nation” since September 2001.
