Ed Morrison, an economic policy advisor from Purdue University, will lead a one-day planning workshop Nov. 7 in Anchorage and Nov. 8 in Fairbanks.

The training will cover a planning process he calls "strategic doing." Morrison developed the process to help groups collaborate, develop a clear outcome and then identify what it takes to accomplish that outcome within a time period. The workshop will teach new methods of open participation and leadership and how to harness the collective wisdom of participants. Workshop participants will practice the methods with coaches and others.

The workshop will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 at the University of Alaska Anchorage Diplomacy Building and the same time Nov. 8 at the district Cooperative Extension Service office at 724 27th Ave., on the south side of the Fairbanks Community Food Bank Building. The workshop is sponsored by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service and the University of Alaska Center for Economic Development.

The cost is $100. Register for the Anchorage workshop by contacting Melissa Houston at 907-786-5423 or at mahouston@uaa.alaska.edu. For the Fairbanks workshop, register online at http://bit.ly/ces-workshops.
