Public can testify on university's role in Alaska's future

April 28, 2017

Carla Browning

The House Finance Budget Subcommittee will take testimony on the University of Alaska’s budget from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29. This is an opportunity for Alaskans to testify on why the university is critical to the future of our state.

The governor and the House have endorsed a $325 million funding level, while the Senate has proposed a $303 million funding level. This amounts to a $22 million cut over the current year. If the Senate number holds, it will represent a cumulative $75 million or 20 percent cut to the university's budget in just the last four years.

Please consider participating and telling the House Finance Budget Subcommittee why UA and UAF are important. Use your own words and personal email to do so.
