Steve Gumaer will speak about Burma's justice record on Friday, March 6, in Schaible Auditorium.

Gumaer is the chief executive officer of Partners Relief & Development, an aid and development organization dedicated to assisting children in war zones.

Gumaer will give presentations at 10:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. and take questions after each.

His talk is titled "Burma’s justice record: What economic development and political liberalization looks like in Burma-Myanmar today." It is sponsored by the student organization Students Who Enjoy Economic Thinking.

Gumaer's team has been working in Burma, also called Myanmar, for the past 20 years and currently runs programs that affect the lives of hundreds of thousands of refugees and displaced people. Working primarily along the border regions, in ethnic states, and inside refugee camps, the team focuses on three areas: promoting sustainable community development, preventing the exploitation and trafficking of children, and providing material relief during crises.
