The Philosophy and Humanities Department at the University of Alaska Fairbanks will host the third annual Joseph C. Thompson Memorial Lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Murie Building auditorium.

A lecture titled “To Love or Not to Love: Creative Tension Between Wisdom and Compassion in Buddhist Ethics” will be given by David Gardiner, associate professor of East Asian religions at Colorado College. The lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
