Tremarello lecture highlights week of UAF events

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what’s happening during the week of June 6- 10, 2016:


  • On Monday, June 6, the 2016 UAF Legacy Lecture will feature an evening with Ann Tremarello. She retired as UAF registrar in 2002 after nearly 50 years at the university, watching it grow from fewer than 400 students to nearly 9,000. The event, which will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium, will include a conversation with Tremarello and a documentary film of her life.



  • On Tuesday, June 7, the Healthy Living lecture series will feature "How to sleep soundly in the Land of the Midnight Sun," by Dr. Scott Luper, a specialist in naturopathic medicine. The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.



  • On Wednesday, June 8, the Discover Alaska lecture series will include Stephen Jewett, research professor emeritus of marine science at UAF, discussing sea stars of the Aleutians. The lecture will be at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.



  • On Thursday, June 9, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature Marc Brown and the Blues Crew. Brown and his band have released 12 albums and earned top places in regional and national Battle of the Bands competitions. Music begins at 7 p.m. in the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
