UAF clearing bike paths

Driving to work on Thursday, June 9, around 7 a.m. near the middle of Farmers Loop I encountered a loader with a sweeper brush cleaning the bike path. As I drove past the loader, I noticed that it had a UAF logo on it.

Isn’t cleaning bike paths, especially several miles from the university, the responsibility of DOT? What was going on here?

Yes, that was our loader/sweeper clearing the Farmers Loop bike path. This is an annual service we provide that allows the ski team to train safely throughout the summer. This service benefits our UAF ski team as well as the community of runners, walkers and bikers who use the trail daily.
