The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house at its new engineering building Friday, Dec. 8, from 4-6 p.m.

The newly completed Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility adds 119,000 square feet of space to support engineering research and education at UAF. University leaders and donors will speak at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, starting at 4 p.m. in the ConocoPhillips Alaska High Bay Structural Testing Lab. The ceremony will be available via webcast at http://media.uaf.edu.

The ceremony will be followed by a public open house, starting at 4:30 p.m., with self-guided tours and student demonstrations throughout the building.

NOTE TO EDITORS: Space is limited in the high bay lab, so journalists planning to cover the ribbon-cutting event should arrive early to set up.
