The Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy will host a webinar titled "Climate Change Adaptation for an At-Risk Community — Shaktoolik, Alaska" on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 10  to 11 a.m.

Terry Johnson, an Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program agent, will make the presentation. Johnson and consultant Glenn Gray worked with the Norton Sound community during a two-year period to develop a plan to adapt to erosion and flooding resulting from climate change. The community-driven plan positions Shaktoolik to work with Alaska’s Division of Community and Rural Affairs to begin implementation, with funding through the Alaska Climate Change Impact Mitigation Program. Johnson will explain how the plan was developed and how reality differs from theory in climate adaptation planning.

The seminar will be available in person in 405 Akasofu or as a webinar. To register for the webinar, please go to https://accap.uaf.edu/node/1089.
